Kωνσταντίνος Ζαφείρης

Konstantinos Zafeiris, who is currently Assistant Professor in Demography in the Department of History and Ethnology, was born in Tripolis, in the Peloponnese.  His gained his first degree in pedagogics at the Herakleion Pedagogical Academy in Crete.  He then gained a degree in biology from the Department of Biology at the University of Crete.  He returned to education studies with another degree in pedagogics from the Department of Pedagogics at the Democritus University, which he gained in 2005.  In the meantime, he studied for a Ph.D., on the subject of A Comparative Analysis of Biological and Social Structures of Isolated Populations of the Rhodopi, Greecein the Department of History and Ethnology of the Democritus University, which he was granted in 2006. 
He worked for several years in primary and secondary education, before joining the Department of History and Ethnology as a regular member of the teaching and research staff in 2011. 
His research interests include:  Formal demography, anthropological demography, human Isolates, fertility, mortality, nuptiality, marriage patterns and systems, and migration.
He has published numerous of papers concerning mortality and fertility analysis, stochastic modelling and health, and several aspects of anthropological demography. His research focus on Greece and especially northern Greece and to the European continent.
