The aim of the course is to acquaint students with a period in the history art that is situated in a particular time and place.  It also aims to acquaint them with the basic concepts and principles of art during the Baroque, with technical developments and with the relationship of Baroque art to history.

Διδακτική της Ιστορίας

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the teaching of history courses at secondary level. In particular, the aim is to give students an understanding of the ideological, pedagogical and academic context of such courses, of the parameters that dictate course aims, content and teaching methods and to familiarize them with contemporary teaching methods. The subject content is as follows:
History courses as a means of imposing prevailing ideologies: Detailed programmes, school textbooks, national celebrations, public history, the role of the state and the Church.

Ανθρωπολογική Δημογραφία

Anthropological demography is a relatively new discipline which blends demographic methods and analysis with the corresponding methods and analysis drawn from socio-cultural anthropology and physical anthropology and evolutionary thought. The aim of the course is to ensure that students have an understanding of the basic aspects of anthropological thought that concern the demographic features of human populations. Course outline:
The concept of interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinarity.
Demographic transition as an example of interdisciplinary approaches.

Ιστορία της Ευρωπαϊκής τέχνης: θέματα θεωρίας & διδακτικής μεθοδολογίας

The aim of the course is to acquaint students of the department with the main trends in European art from the Renaissance to the artistic currents of the 20th century, that is, with the Renaissance, Baroque, Rococco, Neo-Classicism, Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism, Expressionism, Fauvism, Cubism and Surrealism. The course links the visual arts with the historical and social milieu in which they arose and developed. Students are encouraged to reflect and make suggestions as to how art may be validly and effectively employed in the teaching of history.
