Social psychology provides a theoretical and methodological basis for various branches of the discipline of psychology and so permits the study of specialized aspects of human behavior that are also of current interest. The field of education and the study of the components of the act of teaching are a typical example and make clear the importance of concentrating one's interest on this field of enquiry, particularly in a department that produces the teachers of tomorrow.
The aim of the course is to study the phenomena and types of behaviour that make up the manifold aspects of what constitutes the act of teaching. It contributes to the understanding of the dynamics that underline the constantly changing and developing world of the school classroom. Concentration on the application of the theories and research methods of social psychology in order to understand the dynamics set in motion by teacher and students forms the basic rule employed in our approach.
Once the applications of social psychology in the field of education have been examined, the academic arsenal of the teacher of tomorrow in an area vital for both the success of the act of teaching and the transmission of knowledge will have been strengthened.
Course Aims: The aims of the course comprehend the following: A deeper examination of the many levels of the role of today's educationalist. Examination of the dynamics in action in school and of influences between students and educators. Management of this dynamic by educators. Understanding of the elements of school students' performance. Understanding of differences in rapidly changing conditions in education.
