Ο Ελληνιστικός Κόσμος

The course deals with the primary sources for the period and the basic chronology of the Hellenistic period (323 - 31 BC). It then examines the main political and cultural trends, including the sciences, philosophy and art.
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will understand the nature of the primary sources for the period and the difference between them and those of the Classical period. S/he will also understand the main changes that the Hellenistic world underwent, which are due to the foundation of new administrative and culture structures and the absorbtion into the Greek world-view of non-Greek entities and cultural elements.
