Elite and popular Greek fiction of the 19th century
The aim of the course is the investigation of the relation between elite and popular GreeK fiction of nineteenth century. It is sought the comprehension on behalf of the students of the interaction between Elite Literature and Popular Novel (roman-feuilleton) with keystone the literature of this specific period. The literature of the 1880s generation (the so-called ethography, that is the Greek version of the European realistic short story) is the elite version of Greek literature this period and the Novel, which is published in newspapers and books, is the popular version. In the above mentioned context, are studied not only the literary texts of the Greek authors who live in Greece, but also of those who live outside the Greek Kingdom and especially in the Ottoman Εast.
