Νεολιθικός πολιτισμός στη Βόρεια Ελλάδα

The course examines material culture, the organization and use of space and architecture in Neolithic communities in Thessaly, Macedonia and Thrace. It examines the history or archaeological research in northern Greece in general and problems of dating the various phases of the Neolithic period. Emphasis is laid upon suggested interpretations regarding the beginning of the Neolithic period in Greece, the social organization of Neolithic communities as expressed in the organization and use of space at an intracomunal and intercomunal level, on exchange networks and on their role in the social organization of Neolithic communities. The aim of the course is the acquisition by the student of an understanding of the processes that contribute to change in Neolithic communities.
