Laboratory for Modern and Contemporary History and Historical Education

The Modern History Lab of the Department of History and Ethnology is designed to meet the educational and research needs of the Department in the fields of knowledge that relate to modern and contemporary, political, cultural and social history. It was founded recently and it is at its initial phase of ordering its electronic equipment. It also plans to acquire archival material that will facilitate the research of teaching stuff as well as students. The History Lab aims in becoming a hub for presentation of research of all members of the department whose work is related to Modern History. It has already organised the first Meeting of Postgraduate students and Ph.D. candidates (May 2019) and at the moment we are organising the second meeting. The History Lab also has just published the first issue of electronic journal Ereisma [Greek for ‘stepping stone’]. It recently applied for funds to build an electronic Observatory for the celebrations for the 200 years of 1821, which will take place worldwide during 2020 until the end of 2021. For this endeavor we will be  collaborating among others with the Centre of Research of Human Sciences as well as the journal Historein.
